CamelPhat, Saor and More

Celtic Connections has come to an end but as always there is still plenty of shows going on in Glasgow and we are supplying to many of them this weekend. Tonight we are supplying our Pioneer RMX 1000 for CamelPhat at the Galvanizers at SWG3. CamelPhat is a British DJ and production duo, consisting of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, formed in Liverpool in 2004. They earned their stripes and studied dance music dynamics as resident DJs long before they produced. Their first release was in 2010 and ever since then they have been releasing authentic and timeless house tracks. The band who recently signed to RCA Records came to prominence in 2017 with the hit Cola, a collaboration with fellow electronic act Elderbrook. Tonights show at SWG3 has sold out already but if you have tickets you're bound to have a blast.

CamelPhat and Elderbrooks 2017 hit 'Cola.' CamelPhat are playing SWG3 this evening.

Tonight there is also music at Swing on Hope Street where we will be delivering our MarkBass CMD102P. Swing is a unique underground bar and club where an exciting blend of live jazz, blues, soul and funk bands, aerial acrobats and thrilling performances take place. Canada's multi-award-winning Nick MacLean Quartet feat. Brownman Ali will be performing at the venue. Led by 26-year old Toronto piano player this contemplative yet thrilling quartet delivers jazz between the two poles of thoughtful introspection and powerhouse conveyance, taking influences from Herbie Hancock's primordial 1960's Blue Note era recordings, while paying tribute to some of the greatest improvisers in jazz history. Maclean’s quartet heavily features one of Canada's most provocative improvising trumpet players -Brownman Ali, heralded as "Canada's pre-eminent jazz trumpet player" by New York City's Village Voice.  Recognised as an internationally acclaimed jazz iconoclast, he currently splits his time between Brooklyn and Toronto. Ali and Maclean stand shoulder-to-shoulder with 2 of Toronto's finest jazz performers: Jesse Dietschi on upright bass, and Tyler Goertzen on drums.

Saor founder Andy Marshall will be leading the 'Caledonian Metal' band at Drygate on Saturday.

On Saturday metal band Saor are playing a home-town Glasgow show to kick off the new year. Since their formation in 2013, Saor has continually evolved while remaining boldly faithful to its Scottish heritage. Forged by the vision of the band’s founder Andy Marshall, Saor (meaning “Free” in Scottish Gaelic) has a uniquely expressive approach that dives deep into lyrical themes based on literature, landscapes, history, sorrow, nature, and the majestic mountains of his homeland. Following the success of the Forgotten Paths album release show in March 2019, SAOR returns for a one-off Scottish show at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow. This will be their only show of 2020 so is not to be missed.
